The Mill Exchange ( octagonal pavilion)

DP Structures was approached in July 2015 to design and manufacture a new bar for the 2015 Christmas market in The Exchange Square Manchester.
The brief was to create an octagonal bar with 6 opening facets to serve mulled wine from.
The new stall was to take pride of place in the square and was to be called"The Mill Exchange". This was to be a new venture for Mango Rays who in previous years operated from a traditional log cabin.
Their unit was designed to be split into 4 parts and be installed and removed from site quickly.

The Project

The proposed structure was designed to have the themes of a Manchester working mill.
Materials used was chosen to reflect that era ,Corten and corrugated steel was to give a patina of aged ,sheet cladding.
There was to be a contemporary take on the typical Mill chimney that was to light up at night, this in conjunction with distressed timber and old brick interior was enhanced by a sumptuous interior lighting and internal decor. This new unit for 2015 was intended to give a mill town feel for Manchester's "Prize winning" Christmas market.
